Mackie's Mill
One of the many sawmills in the district. Mackie's Mill was located near the Deans Marsh railway station. After bushfires in 1948, Mackie's Mill was moved from Mt Cowley to Deans Marsh. Only two years later it closed and moved to Barwon Downs. Another mill, Bennetts, was located near the intersection of Aurel Rd and the Birregurra Rd. The Ash Wednesday fires of 1983 started near this mill.
